Noise Wars

Well the noise war raged on. The people to the left of me were up until 3am, having invited friends and were partying hard. At one point even Juno got mad and started to bark her head off and in retaliation one of the people made that blood curdling scream again. Multiple times. So damn bizarre. As someone who is travelling by herself I chose not to complain to the park. People are so unpredictable now and pretty scary so I decided not to be confrontational. It would be easy for them to know who complained and so I chose to suffer instead. My only consolation was knowing that both my neighbours were leaving today so it would be all over. And also that meant that I got to have the last word. Jubs was up at 7am as usual and ready to go so we got up and had breakfast and then did swimmies and ball. I purposely threw the ball into the woods between our sites repeatedly and at one point it got stuck somewhere that she couldn’t get at. When that happens she barks incessantly, loudly and obnoxiously until I come and rescue it. Well, I chose not to rescue it for about twenty minutes. At 8am. After the neighbours partied all night.

When I went up to the car and then to the outhouse at about 10am, I saw an older couple emerging from their site on the other side of the terrible neighbours, grumbling and muttering. I smiled and asked them if they managed to get any sleep. We commiserated with each other for a bit. They decided it was all too much and decided to pack up and leave. This is a perfect example of how frustrating I feel people are these days. Yes there have always been and will always be people who don’t care about others but working in the schools system, the self-centredness is most definitely growing. I fight it tooth and nail, when the kids I work with exhibit this nonsense but it’s exhausting because it really comes from home. It’s a battle I’m not going to win.

Went a did a hike on the off leash trail which is about 7km round trip. It’s a decent enough trail but super buggy. Despite having surrendered to another battle I won’t win, it’s starting to really annoy me and get under my skin. Perhaps that’s just the lack of sleep talking. It’s not so much the bugs that annoy me but it’s the being itchy constantly that is. I have bites on the back of my neck, my ear and even on my forehead. I’m over it but may be a good night’s sleep tonight will make me feel more battle ready again.

I have one more day here and then am packing up and moving on to my last big stop. The pinnacle. Pukaskwa National Park. I can’t wait.
